On July 24th, 2011 at 11:25 p.m., the Winfield Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at the Shell gas station located at 0S151 Winfield Rd.
A passer-by contacted 911 after seeing the glass front door of the station shattered.
Upon arrival, Winfield Officers requested a mutual aid response from the West Chicago and Warrenville Police Departments to assist in providing a scene perimeter and a search of the area for the suspect.
Officers located the suspect floating in the Winfield Creek, just to the southwest of the crime scene.
Winfield police arrested 40-year old Michael Eberle of Plainfield, Illinois and he was charged with 1 count of burglary. The charges were approved by the DuPage County States Attorneys Office. Eberle was processed at the Winfield Police Department, served with requisite paperwork, and transported to the DuPage County Jail to await arraignment.
